About Mushroomology
Mushroomology is a social enterprise that is dedicated to empowering women from marginalized communities in rural India. Our mission is to create not only women entrepreneurs but also leaders of the future. Through innovative and sustainable mushroom farming practices, we aim to bring about significant change in the lives of these women and their communities.
We primarily operate in the hinterlands of Uttar Pradesh, where we provide training and support to women farmers, equipping them with the necessary skills and resources to succeed in the mushroom farming industry. By focusing on empowering women, we believe that we can create a ripple effect of positive change that extends far beyond just the individuals we work with.

Seeds of Change - Our Founder's Journey
At Mushroomology, our journey began with a teenage dream and a passion for creating meaningful change. Meet Samaaya Malik, the visionary behind our company.
Samaaya’s story is one of youthful determination and transformative impact. While still in grade 11 at Pathways School Gurgaon, she emerged as a beacon of hope during the 2020 pandemic and the migrant crisis in India. Founding “Impaktors,” a youth-led organization, Samaaya swiftly responded to the crisis, supporting over 4500 migrant workers and their families.
This experience ignited her passion for creating positive change, leading her to found Mushroomology. Recognizing the importance of women’s empowerment in rural India, Samaaya envisioned a social enterprise dedicated to empowering women farmers through sustainable mushroom farming.
Mushroomology is not just about cultivating mushrooms; it’s a holistic initiative aimed at providing sustainable livelihoods and fostering economic independence among women in rural communities. Samaaya collaborates closely with women farmers, imparting skills and knowledge to ensure they become active participants in the mushroom cultivation process.
Samaaya has been selected to participate in prestigious conferences such as Harvard Youth Lead the Change and MIT Innovation Bootcamp, where she continues to inspire others with her vision and passion.
Beyond her dedication to Mushroomology, Samaaya showcases a diverse set of talents. As an avid photographer, she utilizes her artistic skills to highlight critical issues, including her multimedia art installation “Fractured Reality,” focusing on the challenges faced by migrant workers and their children.
In addition to her humanitarian work and artistic pursuits, Samaaya is an adventure seeker. At the young age of 10, she became the youngest certified scuba diver in India, exemplifying her fearless spirit and commitment to pushing boundaries.

Her story serves as an inspiration for those who believe in the power of innovative agriculture and the positive impact it can have on communities.
